Choosing the right partner with an affiliation to Verra or Gold Standard is critical in achieving credible carbon offsetting. Subject to third-party audits to ensure compliance and credibility.

Any legitimate carbon partner should have a registered project with Verra or Gold Standard to guarantee their reliability. Without this affiliation, there’s no assurance of the quality or authenticity of the carbon credits being offered.

Frequently asked questions for residential solar owners.

Here are some common questions about Crunch Carbon, Carbon Credits and how it all works.

Carbon is generated through things like the smoke from your car exhaust, at manufacturing factories or coal burning to make electricity. The dirty haze hanging over your town, that is likely carbon.

Too much carbon makes the air dirty and polluted and can hurt us and our planet. We want to offset, or balance out this carbon and help keep the Earth clean and healthy.

Carbon credits are like "gold stars" you earn for making and more importantly using clean green energy from your solar system. The more clean energy you make and use, the more carbon credits you earn.

And help to keep our air clean and fresh.

Your installed solar system helps offset carbon by generating clean green energy from the sun and then using it in your home to power light bulbs, television, wifi and other electrical appliances.

This means you use green energy rather than electricity from sources that make the air dirty, like energy which was generated by burning coal. And that is how you help offset and prevent tons of carbon being released into the air.

By joining the carbon offset program, we help you harness the benefits of the green energy you are using by offsetting with carbon credits. We group these credits together with others, get them verified and audited by the experts, and then sell them on your behalf.

Then, we share the proceeds from the sales with you in the form of a solar service, thus rewarding you for helping the planet! We think it's way better than a cup of coffee or a smoothie a month, but if you want the coffee or smoothie let us know ;)

Homeowners who own their solar systems can join the program. Crunch Carbon on their behalf and with their permission through a signed agreement, then drives the carbon credit generation process. We have to ask questions about your solar system i.e. its capacity or size, system specifications, the location, costs etc. and then by capturing and collecting very specific data around the energy generated and carbon offset are able to claim the carbon credits.

With many other
homeowners like yourself, big residential estates and complexes we put all these carbon offsets together. Crunch Carbon then handles the collection, processing, audit and verification of the solar energy usage data. This is the difficult part but don't worry, we make this easy for you.Once this has been done, Crunch Carbon with our partners then proceed to sell these carbon credits. Once sold we are able to reward the owners of these solar systems through services offered.

There have five main qualifying criterias;

(1.) You must be the legal owner of the
solar system or plant.
(2.) The solar system or plant must be within the borders of South Africa.
(3.)
The solar system or plant must be smaller than 15MWp (Megawatts peak). This specifically refers to each individual plant, not collective or portfolio of solar systems or plants.
(4.) The solar system or plant may not be participating or enrolled in any other Greenhouse Gas Emission (GHG) programs.
(5.) The system must have been commissioned on or after the 15 September 2022.

Those are it. Simple.

No. 5 is the most important and sadly we cannot help if the system was commissioned or switched on before that date; 15 September 2022.

We are a partnership recognised in the field of carbon emissions management, and adhere to industry principles and standards. We, furthermore, have a team of experts and specialist associates that brings together a diverse range of experience and skills, united by a passion for sustainability and a commitment to excellence.
